Company History
In 1963, the paper industry was
dominated by large paper industrial houses. Focusing their attention
on large manufacturers, these huge paper mills tended to neglect the small
and medium sized companies. Realizing that there was a need for
a specialized paper company to service these smaller accounts, Rubin Fenster
began selling boxes and supplies out of his small Glendale grocery store.
From these humble beginnings, Marfred Industries was formed.
In the late 1960's, business had grown to the
point where it became necessary for Marfred to become self-sufficient
and manufacture its own corrugated containers. The Container
Division, located in Lakeview Terrace, California was founded in 1970
and has become the cornerstone of Marfred's business. Today, the
Container Division converts over 400 million square feet of corrugated
paper board each year.
In the mid-1970's, Marfred again found it advantageous
to expand its operations, this time by opening its own folding carton
plant. Originally located in Pacoima, as business grew, the Folding
Carton / Flexible Packaging Division moved to a larger facility in
North Hollywood, California. Today, this division converts twelve
and a half million square feet of chip board into high quality custom
boxes and promotional displays each year.
As the demands of the packaging industry have
changed, so has Marfred Industries. Today, Marfred is capable of
an unparalleled range of production services, including foam core, plastic,
wave flute, chip board, single-faced and double-faced corrugated.
From the very beginning, Marfred's commitment
has been to serving its customers. In 1964, the company had only
five employees. Today, over 30 years of dedication and service later,
Marfred has over 300 employees, five manufacturing and distribution facilities,
and thousands of satisfied customers throughout Southern California and
Nevada.
Marfred Industries is one of the largest independent
manufacturer-distributors of industrial packaging materials and shipping
supplies in the Western United States. With our unwavering dedication
to customer satisfaction and our loyal team of committed employees, Marfred
will continue to set new industry standards for excellence - into the
next millenium and beyond.
